Cumberland Woman Injured in Early Morning Shooting

Cumberland, MD — On June 30, at 1:44 a.m., the Cumberland Police Department and Cumberland Fire Department responded to a report of an injured woman in the area of West Oldtown Road.

Upon arrival, officers discovered that the victim, 38-year-old Celina Smith of Cumberland, had been shot. Smith was transported to UPMC, where she is currently receiving treatment.

Investigators believe that Smith encountered an individual at approximately 1:15 a.m. near the intersection of West Oldtown Road and Glenwood Street. During this encounter, the individual produced a weapon and shot her before walking away towards Glenwood Street.

The investigation is ongoing and is being conducted by the Allegany County Combined Criminal Investigation Unit (C3I) and the Cumberland Police Department.
