Six-Year-Old Girl Killed in Bayonne Fire Identified, Investigation Continues

Bayonne, NJ — A tragic fire in Bayonne has claimed the life of a six-year-old girl, prompting an investigation by the Hudson County Regional Arson Task Force and the Bayonne Fire Department. The fire occurred on the night of Sunday, June 30, 2024, at a residence located at 438 Avenue C.

The Bayonne Fire Department was called to the scene just after 11:40 p.m. and found the building engulfed in heavy flames and smoke. During the firefighting efforts, responders discovered an unresponsive juvenile, later identified as Saniya Felton of Bayonne, on the second floor of the two-story building.

Saniya was immediately transported to Bayonne Medical Center, where she was pronounced dead shortly after 1 a.m. on Monday, July 1. The cause of the fire is still under investigation, and officials have not yet indicated any suspicion of foul play.
