Local Man Charged with Homicide in Bridgeton Stabbing Incident

Bridgeton, NJ – A 21-year-old local man was arrested this morning and charged with the stabbing death of another man on Atlantic Street. The arrest was made by detectives from the Bridgeton Police Department and the Cumberland County Prosecutor’s Office.

Selvin Omar Garcia-Ramirez, of W. Commerce St., was apprehended around 9:00 AM on Cedar St. He faces charges of murder and weapons offenses, according to complaints filed by Bridgeton Detective Sergio Ruiz. The incident, described by police as isolated, occurred earlier in the morning.

Bridgeton police responded to the 200-block of Atlantic St. at approximately 3:15 AM, where they found the 26-year-old victim, Edwin Lopez-Parra, bleeding and unconscious outside his residence. Lopez-Parra was pronounced dead en route to Inspira Hospital in Vineland.

Bridgeton Police Chief Michael Gaimari confirmed that the victim and suspect knew each other but did not provide further details on the motive. Garcia-Ramirez is currently being processed at the police department and will be held without bail at the Cumberland County Jail.

Chief Gaimari praised the prompt and thorough work of the responding officers and investigators from both agencies, which led to the swift charges and arrest of the suspect.
