Suspect Wanted for Hit and Run Arrested Near Virginia Beach After Police Pursuit

CHESAPEAKE, VA — A male suspect is in custody after being involved in a hit and run accident followed by a police pursuit in Chesapeake. The incident occurred on July 12, 2024, around 7:00 PM along S. Military Highway near the Virginia Beach city line.

Chesapeake Police responded to reports of a possible drunk driver who had just left the scene of an accident. Upon locating the suspect vehicle, officers attempted a traffic stop that quickly escalated into a pursuit. The chase concluded when the vehicle stopped on Buttonwood Street.

The driver, who displayed signs of intoxication, was arrested and transported to a hospital due to injuries sustained in the accident. Charges are pending as the investigation continues. The Chesapeake Police Department is handling the case, which remains active at this time.

Authorities are urging anyone with information about this incident to come forward to assist with the ongoing investigation.
