Trump Continues Plans for Wisconsin Trip Following Assassination Attempt

Supporters of President Donald Trump gather outside Trump National Golf Club in Sterling, Va., Sunday, Sept. 20, 2020, before the departure of Trumps motorcade.

Former President Donald Trump has announced his decision to proceed with his scheduled trip to Wisconsin and the Republican National Convention today, despite a recent assassination attempt.

Trump shared this decision on his social media, emphasizing his refusal to allow the incident to alter his plans.

The statement came after a distressing event that Trump described as “terrible,” which prompted initial considerations to delay his travel. However, he stated, “I cannot allow a ‘shooter,’ or potential assassin, to force change to scheduling, or anything else.” As a result, Trump affirmed his departure for Milwaukee at 3:30 P.M. today, expressing his determination to move forward without disruption.

He departed his home in Bedminster, New Jersey Sunday evening and arrived in Wisconsin for the 2024 GOP Convention.
