LAS VEGAS, NV — President Joe Biden has tested positive for COVID-19, as announced by a leader at the UnidosUS conference in Las Vegas. Janet Murguia, president of UnidosUS, shared the news during the event on Wednesday.

Murguia expressed that President Biden conveyed his deep disappointment over the phone, as he was unable to attend the conference. “Regrettably, I was just on the phone with President Biden and he shared his deep disappointment at not being able to join us this afternoon. The president has been at many events, as we all know, and he just tested positive for Covid,” she stated.

President Biden had been expected to deliver remarks at the group’s event and was approximately an hour and a half late before the announcement was made. The White House has released a statement confirming that Biden tested positive for the virus.

During his most recent public appearances, Biden has been campaigning, shaking hands, and talking to people within the Democratic party. It is not clear how much he has spread the virus during his interactions with others.
