Police Upgrade 2022 Assault to Murder Charges But Have No Suspect

NEW YORK, NY — A 2022 assault has been officially ruled a homicide by the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner after the victim died from his injuries at the end of 2023. The 34-year-old male, whose identity has not been disclosed pending family notification, was assaulted by an unknown individual on August 31, 2022. He battled his injuries for over a year before succumbing on Sunday, December 31, 2023.

The incident has now taken a turn as the medical examiner’s office confirmed the cause of death as a homicide on Monday, July 1, 2024.

As of now, no arrests have been made, and the police continue their investigation into the incident.
