Intoxication and Obstruction Lead to Arrest at Historical Site in Cumberland

CUMBERLAND, MD — On Sunday, July 21, Thomas Scannell Jr., 63, of Cumberland, was arrested for multiple offenses after police responded to a reported assault at George Washington Headquarters on Greene Street.

Arriving at approximately 2:02 PM, Cumberland Police encountered Scannell, who was reportedly intoxicated and non-compliant. Scannell’s behavior included aggressive approaches towards the officers and repeated attempts to walk away during the ongoing investigation.

Due to his actions, Scannell was arrested and transported to Central Booking. He faces charges including Intoxicated Public Disturbance, Litter/Dump under 100 LBS, and Obstructing & Hindering. Scannell is currently held awaiting a bond hearing.
