Two Arrested in D.C. Moped Carjacking

WASHINGTON, D.C. — Two suspects have been arrested in connection with an unarmed carjacking that occurred in Northwest Washington, D.C.

On Monday, at approximately 1:30 a.m., the victim was riding his moped near 14th Street and U Street, Northwest, when a group of suspects surrounded and assaulted him. The suspects removed the victim from the moped, and one fled the scene with the vehicle while the others fled on foot. Responding officers detained two suspects.

Following an investigation, 18-year-old Robert Medoune Thiam and 18-year-old Ayomide Ikujuniof, both of Laurel, MD, were charged with carjacking.
