Woman Assaulted in Suspected Hate Crime on Q Train

NEW YORK, N.Y. — The NYPD is investigating a suspected hate crime following an incident on a northbound Q train at the West 57 Street and 7th Avenue subway station on Wednesday, July 17, 2024. At approximately 8:10 p.m., a 28-year-old woman was verbally assaulted and physically attacked by an unidentified female who made anti-Asian remarks before striking the victim in the face with a closed fist. The assailant then fled the scene.

The victim declined medical attention at the scene. The NYPD’s Hate Crimes Task Force is currently investigating the incident.

The suspect is described as a female with a light complexion, in her 30s, approximately 5’5″ tall, weighing around 120 lbs. She has long wavy black hair and was last seen wearing a brown tan short dress, multi-color sneakers, a white hat, and carrying a black bag.

Anyone with information about the incident is urged to contact the NYPD.
