Investigation Underway for Cumberland Structure Fire

CUMBERLAND, MD — Authorities are investigating a structure fire that occurred late Friday night at 720 Baker Street.

At 11:42 PM, a fire broke out at a two-story duplex.

The Cumberland Fire Department responded quickly to the scene, with ten firefighters arriving and controlling the fire within ten minutes.

No injuries or deaths were reported, and the estimated loss is $1,000 for the structure and $1,500 for the contents. The smoke alarm was activated, but there was no fire alarm or sprinkler system present.

A neighbor discovered the fire and called 911 after observing flames at the rear of the vacant residence. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
