Video Shows Massive Dragonfly Swarm Overwhelming Beach In Rhode Island

Westerly, RI – A massive swarm of dragonflies descended on Misquamicut State Beach, disrupting the day for many beachgoers on Saturday afternoon. The unexpected event caused panic and confusion among the visitors, some of whom compared the scene to a biblical plague.

Videos captured the swarm buzzing over towels, through umbrellas, and around people, as screams filled the air. Many beachgoers were seen swatting at the insects with shovels and sand toys, while others quickly packed up and left the beach.

Despite the chaos, some visitors remained calm and even seemed to embrace the unusual sight. Witnesses reported seeing people standing still and watching the dragonflies, with a few even attempting to catch them.

The incident has left a lasting impression on those who experienced the sudden invasion of dragonflies at the popular beach.
