WESTMINSTER, MD—A Westminster man has been arrested and charged with the second-degree murder of his wife, following an incident in Carroll County that occurred over the weekend.

Maryland State Police Homicide Unit identified the suspect as 50-year-old Matthew Glowacki. He was taken into custody on Sunday and is currently being held without bond at the Carroll County Detention Center.

The victim, 45-year-old Miriam Glowacki of Westminster, was found with multiple stab wounds at their residence on the 1200 block of Ridge Road shortly after noon on Saturday. Despite being rushed to the Carroll County Hospital Center, she was pronounced dead.

Initially responding to a report of a self-harm attempt, troopers discovered the critically injured woman upon their arrival. Matthew Glowacki was present at the scene and was later implicated in the crime following evidence collected by Crime Scene Technicians from the Maryland State Police Forensic Sciences Division.

An autopsy confirmed the manner of death as homicide, though a motive has not yet been established. The investigation is ongoing, with assistance from the Carroll County State’s Attorney’s Office.
