One Perp Dead in Officer-Involved Shooting in Woodbridge

WOODBRIDGE, VA – An officer-involved shooting occurred early this morning, resulting in the death of a 22-year-old man from Woodbridge. Prince William County Police initially responded to a call concerning a suicidal individual at a residence on the 3400 block of Caledonia Circle around 8:21 PM on July 31.

Officers later found the individual armed at an acquaintance’s home on the 3000 block of Bromley Court. Despite efforts to negotiate a peaceful surrender throughout the night, the situation escalated.

At approximately 5:30 AM on August 1, the engagement led to officers fatally shooting the man.

No officers or other community members were injured during the incident.

The area is deemed safe with no ongoing threat to the community.

The Prince William County Police Department has enlisted the regional Critical Incident Response Team (CIRT) to conduct an independent investigation, as requested by Chief Peter Newsham. Further details will be provided as the investigation progresses.
