Man Struck by Train by North Adams American Legion

NORTH ADAMS, MA – A tragic incident occurred on Tuesday, July 30, when Douglas Hawley, a North Adams was fatally struck by a train. The Berkshire State Police Detective Unit reported that the accident happened at approximately 11:25 AM on the tracks located between the American Legion at 91 American Legion Drive and the Brien Center at 124 American Legion Drive.

The eastbound train was traveling at a low speed when it struck Mr. Hawley. The circumstances surrounding the incident are currently under investigation by the Berkshire District Attorney’s Office to determine the cause and any contributing factors.
