BRIDGEVILLE, DE—Delaware State Police have arrested Willie Massey, 40, of Bridgeville, for his fifth offense DUI, a felony charge, after a traffic stop near Seaford on the morning of August 1.

Around 11:10 a.m., a state trooper observed Massey driving a Ford Fiesta southbound on Coverdale Road. The vehicle attracted attention due to a poorly displayed license plate and a subsequent traffic violation.

Upon stopping the vehicle, the trooper noted signs of impairment in Massey’s behavior. Standardized Field Sobriety Tests were administered, leading to his arrest. A computer check confirmed Massey’s four prior DUI-related convictions.

Massey was charged with his fifth DUI offense, along with a license plate display violation and failure to use a turn signal.

He was arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court 2 and is currently held at Sussex Correctional Institution on a $5,002 cash bond. This arrest marks a significant legal predicament for Massey, given the severity of repeated DUI offenses.
