REISTERSTOWN, MD — Maryland State Police are currently investigating a tragic incident that occurred early Thursday morning on Interstate 695 in Baltimore County, where a suspected DUI crash claimed the life of a man.

The victim, 64-year-old John Quame De Love from Hyattsville, Maryland, was pronounced dead at the scene. He was the sole occupant of a 2017 Chevrolet Malibu that was struck head-on. The collision involved a 2021 Toyota Corolla driven by 34-year-old Liluram Paudel of Nottingham, Maryland, who, along with his passenger, Kashiram Khatri, was transported to Sinai Hospital for treatment of injuries sustained in the crash.

The crash was reported just before 2:40 a.m. near Stevenson Road. Preliminary investigations suggest that the Toyota Corolla was traveling eastbound in the westbound lanes of I-695, having possibly entered the highway near Reisterstown Road.

The incident led to the closure of all lanes on the outer loop for several hours, with the Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration managing road closures.

Charges against the driver of the Toyota are pending, contingent upon further investigation and consultation with the Baltimore County State’s Attorney’s Office.
