WALDORF, MD—A Charles County man has hit the jackpot by winning a $50,000 top prize from a scratch-off ticket during a routine visit to his local lottery retailer. The fortunate asphalt contractor purchased his winning Gold Rush 7s Tripler ticket at the Dash In store located at 30100 Three Notch Road in Charlotte Hall.

After scratching the ticket, he revealed a “7” symbol, which corresponded to the game’s top prize of $50,000. Overwhelmed by the win, the Waldorf resident plans to use his newfound fortune to buy a new truck, sharing his excitement and future plans with Maryland Lottery officials.

The lucky store that sold the winning ticket will also enjoy a bit of the winner’s luck; Dash In will receive a $500 bonus from the lottery for selling a top-prize scratch-off. The Gold Rush 7s Tripler game, which debuted in May, initially offered eight top prizes of $50,000. With the latest win, there are still five top prizes up for grabs, in addition to numerous other smaller prizes ranging from $5 to $5,000.
