Ice Cream Cart Vendor Robbed at Knifepoint in Newark

NEWARK, NJ – Newark Public Safety Director Fritz Fragé is seeking the public’s help in identifying two women wanted for questioning related to an armed robbery that occurred on July 18, 2024. The incident took place around 9:30 AM on the 200 block of Mt. Prospect Avenue.

During the incident, an ice cream vendor was assaulted while setting up her cart. Two male suspects approached her from behind, initially requesting ice cream. The situation quickly escalated as one suspect restrained the vendor with a knife to her throat, allowing the other to steal her bag. The stolen items included $1,000 in cash, an iPhone, a vendor’s license, identification, and a bank card.

The two women now sought for questioning were observed in the company of the suspects shortly after the robbery. Anyone with information on the identity or whereabouts of these women is urged to contact Newark authorities.
