Atlantic City Man Arrested with Stolen Firearm After Fleeing Police

ATLANTIC CITY, NJ – An armed suspect was apprehended by the Atlantic City Police Department after discarding a stolen handgun during a chase.

The incident occurred on August 14, 2024, at approximately 7:06 PM, following a tip-off about a man armed with a handgun on Arctic Avenue.

Sergeant Daniel Arra, acting on detailed information, coordinated a rapid response which led to the sighting of Jackie Mullins, 40, riding a bicycle in the 1100 block of Arctic Avenue.

When approached by officers Matthew Crosby and Dion Liu, Mullins fled, abandoning his bicycle and initiating a foot chase. He eventually surrendered but not before discarding a loaded handgun, which was later found under a vehicle. The firearm was identified as stolen property from North Carolina.

Mullins faces several charges, including unlawful possession of a weapon and receiving stolen property. He has been detained at the Atlantic County Justice Facility.
