Shooting in Roanoke Leaves Man Injured

ROANOKE, VA—A man was hospitalized following a shooting incident in Roanoke early Friday morning. The Roanoke Police Department responded to reports of gunfire around 7:00 AM on the 1700 block of Hanover Avenue NW.

Upon arrival, officers found a man with a gunshot wound. He was promptly transported to a local hospital, where his injuries were determined to be non-life-threatening.

The area around 17th Street between Hanover and Orange Avenue was temporarily closed for investigation but has since reopened. As of now, no arrests have been made, and the investigation is ongoing.

The Roanoke Police Department is urging anyone with information about the shooting to contact them at (540) 344-8500 or via text at 274637, starting the message with “RoanokePD.” Both calls and texts can remain anonymous.
