Two Injured in Late-Night Shooting Outside Bronx Bodega

BRONX, NY—A shooting incident outside a Bronx bodega late Thursday night left two people injured, including a woman who was closing up a nearby smoke shop. The violence erupted around 1:10 AM on West Fordham Road in University Heights.

A 43-year-old man was shot in the back and is currently in critical but stable condition at St. Barnabas Hospital. Concurrently, a 37-year-old woman, who was in the process of closing the smoke shop, was also struck by bullets. She realized she had been hit only minutes after hearing the initial commotion.

The identities of the shooter or shooters remain unknown, and the investigation into the shooting is ongoing. Both victims were unintended targets in this sudden outbreak of gunfire.
