Cranford Police Investigating Residential Burglary and BMW Theft on Manor Avenue

CRANFORD, N.J. — The Cranford Police Department is investigating a residential burglary and motor vehicle theft that occurred early on the morning of August 20, 2024. At approximately 6:26 a.m., officers were dispatched to a residence on Manor Avenue following a report of a burglary that had taken place overnight.

Responding officers determined that the suspect(s) gained entry to the home through a rear first-floor window. Once inside, they stole keys to the victim’s BMW and left the scene in the stolen vehicle. The residents were home at the time of the burglary but were not harmed.

This incident is part of a recent trend in Union County where BMWs have been increasingly targeted by vehicle thieves. The Cranford Police Department urges residents to remove key fobs from their vehicles when parked and to ensure that their security cameras are functioning properly.

Residents are encouraged to report any suspicious activity to the Cranford Police Department at 908-272-2222. If you have surveillance footage related to this incident, please contact Detective Robert Jordan at 908-709-4124 or r-jordan@cranfordnj.org. Video footage can also be emailed to police@cranfordnj.org.
