Maryland Lottery – Two lucky scratch-off players from District Heights and Baltimore found themselves spinning their way to significant prizes on August 21, thanks to THE BIG SPIN $5 scratch-off game. The unique game, which features a real-life prize wheel at the Maryland Lottery headquarters, delivered $150,000 and $125,000 wins to the delighted players.
The first winner, a District Heights resident who chose to go by the nickname “Jefe,” was introduced to Maryland Lottery games by her boyfriend. Jefe won a whopping $150,000 after visiting the Lottery headquarters to spin the six-foot-tall, brightly colored prize wheel that is the centerpiece of THE BIG SPIN game. Her boyfriend, who accompanied her to claim the prize, joked that he might not play anymore after witnessing her big win, though he admitted he’d likely grab a ticket on the way home.
Jefe plans to use her winnings to expand her catering business, a goal she says the prize money will help her achieve more quickly. She purchased her winning ticket at Galaxy Food Market, located at 4917 Suitland Road in Suitland. The Prince George’s County retailer will receive a $1,000 bonus for selling the winning ticket.
The second big winner of the day, a Baltimore resident nicknamed “The Milkman,” claimed a $125,000 prize after spinning the same prize wheel. A lifelong Baltimorean and retired state employee, The Milkman has been on a hot streak, having won a $10,000 prize earlier this year on another scratch-off ticket. He enjoys playing scratch-offs because of the instant gratification they offer.
The Milkman plans to use some of his winnings to help his children with home purchases, as he did with his previous win, and to create a man cave in his home to house his Ravens memorabilia. He purchased his winning ticket at Check Cash Depot, located at 8 16th Avenue in Brooklyn Park. The Anne Arundel County retailer will also receive a $1,000 bonus.
THE BIG SPIN game launched on April 22, 2024, and originally offered eight wheel spin prizes. Following these two recent wins, only two of those top prizes remain unclaimed. The game also has one remaining $50,000 instant prize and thousands of smaller prizes ranging from $5 to $5,000.
Both winners expressed excitement and gratitude for their good fortune and said they plan to continue playing. “Oh, you know it,” The Milkman remarked when asked if he’ll keep participating in the Lottery.
