WOODBRIDGE, Va. — A driver was killed in a vehicle fire following a crash at the intersection of Old Bridge Road and Occoquan Road on Friday evening, according to the Prince William County Police Department. Officers responded to the scene at approximately 6:50 p.m., where they discovered a vehicle fully engulfed in flames.

The driver, who was the sole occupant of the vehicle, was pronounced dead at the scene. Preliminary findings from the investigation indicate that the driver had placed gasoline inside the passenger compartment shortly before the crash, which is believed to have caused the fire.

Authorities are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash, including the cause and manner of death. The identity of the deceased has not yet been released, pending positive identification and notification of next of kin.

The Prince William County Police Department is urging anyone with information related to the incident to come forward as the investigation continues.

“This is an active investigation,” Sergeant Wade Dickinson, Public Information Officer for the department, said in a statement.

Further updates will be provided as more information becomes available.
