TRENTON, N.J. — Authorities have arrested a Pennsylvania man in connection with the fatal shooting of Amir Williams, 32, in Trenton last month, according to a joint statement by Acting Mercer County Prosecutor Theresa L. Hilton and Trenton Police Director Steve Wilson. The arrest follows an investigation by the Mercer County Homicide Task Force (MCHTF) and the Trenton Police Department.
Rashawn Ford, 37, of Morrisville, Pa., was apprehended Wednesday morning, August 28, in Bensalem, Pa., by the U.S. Marshals New York/New Jersey Regional Fugitive Task Force. Ford faces charges including first-degree murder, attempted murder, two counts of aggravated assault, and multiple weapons offenses. Prosecutors have indicated they will file a motion to detain Ford pending trial.
The charges stem from a shooting that occurred on the night of July 4, 2024. At approximately 11:30 p.m., Trenton Police responded to reports of gunfire in the 800 block of Stuyvesant Avenue. Officers arrived to find Amir Williams suffering from multiple gunshot wounds to the torso. He was transported to Capital Health Regional Medical Center, where he was later pronounced dead.
During the investigation, authorities also learned that a second victim, an adult female, had been shot in the right hip and arrived at the hospital seeking treatment. Her condition was not disclosed.
