Four-Year-Old Dies Following Accidental Near Drowning in South Seaside Park

SOUTH SEASIDE PARK, N.J. — A four-year-old boy who was found unresponsive after an accidental submersion in a swimming pool in South Seaside Park on August 30 has died, according to the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office. The child passed away on Monday at Jersey Shore University Medical Center in Neptune.

The incident occurred at approximately 3:30 p.m. on August 30, when officers from the Berkeley Township Police Department, Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office, and Ocean County Sheriff’s Office were called to a residence in South Seaside Park. The child had been pulled from a swimming pool and was found unresponsive. Emergency responders performed life-saving measures before the boy was transported to the hospital.

Prosecutor Bradley D. Billhimer confirmed the child’s death and expressed condolences. “Our thoughts and prayers are with this child’s parents, family and friends at this most difficult time,” Billhimer said in a statement.

The boy’s condition had remained critical since the incident. Authorities did not release additional details regarding the circumstances of the submersion.

The investigation into the tragic accident is ongoing.
