Police Seek Public’s Help in Identifying Assault Suspect in Newark

NEWARK, N.J. — Newark Public Safety Director Fritz Fragé is requesting the public’s assistance in identifying a suspect involved in an assault that took place on August 8, 2024. The incident occurred following an argument on an NJ Transit bus.

At approximately 2:50 a.m., the victim boarded the No. 25 NJ Transit bus. The suspect reportedly made a comment to the victim that led to a verbal altercation. The situation escalated when the bus reached the intersection of Broad and Market Streets, where the victim exited the bus. The suspect followed and proceeded to punch the victim in the face multiple times.

Authorities have released an image of the suspect and are urging anyone with information about his identity to come forward. Director Fragé emphasized the importance of public assistance in this case and noted that tips provided could lead to a reward.
