CAMBRIDGE, Md. — A Toddville man was arrested on Monday in connection with multiple counts of rape and sexual assault, the Cambridge Police Department announced.

Jason Warren Groff, 41, was taken into custody around 11:13 a.m. after officers from the Cambridge Police Department (CPD), with assistance from Dorchester County Sheriff’s deputies, apprehended him near Lakesville in Dorchester County. Police had received information that Groff was traveling from Toddville to the Cambridge area.

Groff was arrested on an active Dorchester County District Court warrant and charged with two counts each of first- and second-degree rape, third-degree sexual offense, and fourth-degree sexual contact, along with second-degree assault and false imprisonment.

The charges stem from an investigation by the CPD Criminal Investigation Division, which began on August 16, 2024. Detectives had spoken with a female victim at the University of Maryland Shore Medical Center, according to police.

Groff had his initial court appearance before a commissioner and was held without bond at the Dorchester County Department of Corrections. The investigation is ongoing.
