St. John’s University burglary suspects arrested by NYPD detectives

QUEENS, N.Y. — Two individuals have been arrested and charged in connection to a burglary that occurred at St. John’s University on August 20, 2024, according to the New York City Police Department.

Emanuel Yakubov, 25, and a 17-year-old male, whose name has not been released due to his age, were taken into custody on September 3, 2024, within the confines of the 107th Precinct. Both individuals face multiple charges, including third-degree burglary, petit larceny, third-degree criminal trespass, and fifth-degree criminal possession of stolen property.

Authorities reported that on August 20, at approximately 6:00 p.m., the suspects unlawfully entered a building at 168-10 Goethals Avenue, part of the St. John’s University campus. Once inside, they removed various items before fleeing the scene on a moped, heading westbound on Union Turnpike. No injuries were reported.

The investigation is ongoing.
