Breaking: Akron Police and Fire Departments Evacuate Area Due to Chemical Fire

AKRON, OH – The Akron Police Department and Akron Fire Department are evacuating residents and businesses within a half-mile radius of a commercial fire at 1081 Rosemary Blvd. The fire, which broke out earlier today, involves chemicals stored in the building, creating a hazardous material situation.

Officials have deemed the area unsafe due to the burning chemicals and are urging the public to avoid the vicinity. The city has designated the Firestone Park Community Center, located at 1480 Girard St., as a reunification center for those displaced by the evacuation. Transportation is being provided for those in the affected area, according to city officials.

If necessary, any overflow from the Firestone Park Community Center will be directed to the Joy Park Community Center at 825 Fuller St.

The fire is ongoing, and emergency responders are working to contain the situation. No further details have been provided at this time regarding potential injuries or the cause of the fire.
