46-year-old man shot multiple times dead in D.C.

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Police are investigating a fatal shooting that occurred early Monday in Northeast D.C., leaving one man dead.

At approximately 1:19 a.m. on September 2nd, officers responded to reports of gunfire in the 2800 block of 7th Street, Northeast. Upon arrival, they found a man suffering from gunshot wounds. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene.

The deceased has been identified as 46-year-old Townsend Reginald Sowell, a resident of Northeast D.C.

Police are urging anyone with information about the incident to contact them, emphasizing that the public should not intervene. MPD is offering a reward of up to $25,000 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of those responsible for the homicide.
