Fatal hit-and-run in Southeast D.C. leaves man dead

WASHINGTON, D.C. – A hit-and-run incident in Southeast D.C. left a man dead Wednesday night, prompting police to search for the driver of the vehicle involved.

The crash occurred around 8:58 p.m. in the 2100 block of Minnesota Avenue, Southeast, where a pedestrian was lying in the northbound travel lane. A gray SUV struck the man and continued driving without stopping or identifying the driver, heading through 22nd Street, Southeast.

The victim, identified as 29-year-old Kurt Donnelle Morgan, was pronounced dead at the scene. He had no fixed address, according to police.
