Kentucky Child Predator Arrested During Traffic Stop in Cumberland

CUMBERLAND, Md. — A man wanted on charges of sexual exploitation of a minor in Kentucky was arrested Thursday following a traffic stop on Baltimore Avenue, the Cumberland Police Department said.

Officers conducted the traffic stop on Thursday, September 5, and identified the driver as Trenten Shoemaker, 27, of Hyndman, Pa. During the stop, officers learned that Shoemaker had an active extraditable warrant issued by the Whitley County Circuit Court in Kentucky. The warrant was related to charges of sexual exploitation of a minor.

Shoemaker was taken into custody without incident and transported to the Allegany County Detention Center. He is currently being held while awaiting extradition to Kentucky to face the charges.

No additional details regarding the alleged exploitation or the circumstances leading to the issuance of the warrant were provided by police. Shoemaker’s extradition process and future court dates have not yet been determined.

The Cumberland Police Department has not released further information at this time.
