Evesham Township police remind drivers of reduced speed limits in school zones

EVESHAM, N.J. — As schools reopen for the academic year, the Evesham Township Police Department is reminding motorists to pay attention to reduced speed limits in school zones when children are present.

In a post on social media, police clarified that speed limits are lowered when children can be seen from the roadway, even if they are 100 yards away from the road, such as in front of a school during pick-up or drop-off times. The reduced speed applies whenever children are visible, not just when they are near the street.

The department urges drivers to be mindful of speed limit signs and to help ensure the safety of children as they travel to and from school.
