Oven fire damages home in Berkeley Township

BERKELEY TOWNSHIP, N.J. — Firefighters responded to a home on Maracaibo Place on August 2 after a report of an oven fire, according to Berkeley Township Police.

Patrolman James Tillett arrived to find visible smoke and flames. Fire crews from Manitou Park and Pinewald quickly extinguished the blaze. No injuries were reported, but the fire caused damage to the stove and nearby cabinets.

The Ocean County Fire Marshal and Detective Derek Mayer conducted an investigation and determined that the fire was caused by paper products stored in the drawer beneath the stove.
