D.C. Man Arrested as Suspect in Gaitherburg Shooting Murder

GAITHERSBURG, Md. — Montgomery County police have arrested Jeriel Demitri Martin, 33, in connection with the shooting death of Jamar Emmanuel Jenifer, 34, of Washington, D.C., according to authorities.

Detectives from the Major Crimes Division identified Martin as the suspect in the homicide, which occurred on Monday, September 2, in an alley in the 8000 block of 13th Street in Silver Spring. Jenifer was found shot and killed at the scene.

An arrest warrant was issued for Martin, charging him with first-degree murder and use of a firearm in the commission of a felony or violent crime. Authorities executed a search warrant at Martin’s Silver Spring residence on Friday, September 6, where they recovered items linked to Jenifer’s homicide.

Martin was arrested without incident and is currently being held without bond at the Montgomery County Central Processing Unit.
