STAFFORD, Va. — A juvenile black racer snake was removed from a restricted area of the Stafford County Sheriff’s Office on Tuesday morning.

At approximately 5:45 a.m., Major C.S. Kimmitz discovered the snake inside the locker room of the Ford T. Humphrey Public Safety Building, according to a post from the sheriff’s office. The non-venomous snake, named “Chuck Norhiss” by deputies, was safely removed and released into a wooded area behind the building.

The sheriff’s office shared the incident with humor, noting that the snake appeared “much larger” and more threatening than it actually was.
