Train Service on Purpleline Stops Due to Roadway Crash

CUMBERLAND, Md. — The Allegany County Transit Purpleline service was temporarily unable to reach the Westernport area due to a road closure, according to the Allegany County Sheriff’s Office.

The sheriff’s office announced the disruption through social media on Tuesday morning, noting that the affected route is expected to resume normal service later in the afternoon.

No specific details were provided regarding the cause or duration of the road closure, but local authorities indicated they are working to restore access as soon as possible.

“Sorry for the inconvenience,” the sheriff’s office said in a brief statement on its Facebook page.

Commuters who rely on the Purpleline service in Westernport are advised to monitor updates for further information on resumption times.
