Man Who Targeted Elderly Boston Residents Captured in Philadelphia

Philadelphia, PA — A suspect wanted in connection with multiple armed robberies targeting elderly victims in Boston has been arrested in Philadelphia, authorities said Tuesday. Edwin Santo, 22, was apprehended by U.S. Marshals after Boston police tracked his location and provided it to federal authorities.

Santo was wanted on two warrants issued by Roxbury District Court for armed robbery and assault and battery with a firearm. He is accused of a series of gold chain robberies in the Roxbury, Mattapan, and Hyde Park neighborhoods, all of which involved victims aged 60 or older, according to the Boston Police Department.

Santo is expected to be extradited to Massachusetts and arraigned in Roxbury District Court in the coming days. The investigation remains ongoing.
