KING GEORGE, Va. — A $50,000 Powerball prize from the March 16 drawing remains unclaimed, and the winner is in danger of missing out. The ticket was purchased at the 7-Eleven located at 10520 James Madison Parkway in King George, but no one has come forward to claim the prize.

By law, winning tickets in Virginia expire 180 days after the drawing, meaning the prize will become worthless after 5:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 12. The winning numbers from that drawing were 12-23-44-57-61, with a Powerball number of 5. The ticket matched four of the first five numbers plus the Powerball number.

Unclaimed prizes in Virginia are transferred to the state’s Literary Fund, which provides low-interest loans to localities for public school construction and upgrades. Anyone in possession of the winning ticket should contact the Virginia Lottery immediately. The ticket can be redeemed at any of the Lottery’s eight customer service centers across the state.
