Stafford County deputies detain suspect in assault at hotel

STAFFORD, Va. — A man was detained after allegedly assaulting both his girlfriend and a hotel staff member at America’s Best Inn on Warrenton Road, authorities said Wednesday. The incident occurred Tuesday evening at approximately 8:06 p.m., according to the Stafford County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputy S.A. Edwards responded to the scene after receiving reports of a guest acting belligerently toward his girlfriend. When hotel staff asked the man to leave, he reportedly assaulted both the woman and an employee.

Deputies N.J. Amato and J.W. Ahern later located the suspect and took him into custody. The man was charged with assault and battery but was released on personal recognizance following a hearing with a magistrate, officials said.

No further details regarding the condition of the victims were released. The sheriff’s office continues to investigate the incident.
