New Jersey Police Warn of Serious Consequences for Juvenile Online Threats

WOODBURY, N.J. — The Woodbury City Police Department has issued a warning to parents and guardians in response to a series of non-credible online threats originating from juveniles in the Woodbury and Gateway School Districts, officials said Friday.

The department has been investigating multiple threats made over the past week. While the threats have not been deemed credible, police emphasized the significant concern they have caused among the public, school staff, and families.

“Juveniles need to be aware there are harsh consequences,” the Woodbury City Police Department said in a statement, noting that those responsible could face criminal charges, suspension, or expulsion from school. Officials stressed that these threats have been occupying significant police resources.

Parents, grandparents, and guardians are urged to monitor the online activity of their children and to make them aware of the serious consequences of their actions, the department added. Police are continuing their investigations and have encouraged cooperation from the community.

Authorities hope that increased awareness will help prevent further incidents, which they say are causing unnecessary public alarm.
