Newark Police Seek Public’s Help Identifying Suspects in Robbery

NEWARK, N.J. — Authorities are asking for the public’s assistance in identifying three male suspects involved in a robbery that occurred early on Sunday, September 1, 2024, Newark Public Safety Director Fritz G. Fragé announced.

At approximately 3:20 a.m., police patrolling the 400 block of 18th Avenue were flagged down by a man who reported that he had been robbed. According to the victim, he was approached by three male suspects after entering a nearby convenience store. One of the suspects grabbed him and demanded money, after which the group took his wallet, containing a debit card and personal belongings, while physically assaulting him.

Detectives provided descriptions of the suspects:

  • Suspect #1: Male, wearing a white shirt, black sweatpants, black sneakers, and carrying a black book bag.
  • Suspect #2: Male, wearing a blue shirt with white lettering on the back, red shorts, and Croc sandals.
  • Suspect #3: Male, wearing a white shirt, beige or light brown pants, white and black sneakers, and carrying a black book bag.

Anyone with information regarding the suspects or the incident is urged to contact Newark Police. The investigation is ongoing.
