Myrtle Beach police safely dispose of military device used as “doorstop”

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. — Officers from the Myrtle Beach Police Department responded to a residence on the 2400 block of Rock Dove Road on Saturday night after a homeowner reported concerns about an old military item he had purchased at a garage sale. The item had been used as a doorstop.

The call came in at approximately 8:36 p.m. After assessing the situation, the police followed established safety protocols and requested assistance from outside agencies. Horry County Police Department and military partners were called in to assist in the safe disposal of the device.

The Myrtle Beach Police Department thanked the assisting agencies for their support in ensuring the safe removal and destruction of the item. Authorities also expressed appreciation to community members for reporting concerns and helping keep the area safe.

Police did not disclose what ‘device’ was used.
