WILKES-BARRE, Pa. — A man wanted by the Ashley Police Department for aggravated assault was arrested Monday evening by Wilkes-Barre City police on East Market Street, authorities said.

It seems he wasn’t all that wanted in the end.

The arrest took place at approximately 6:04 p.m., after officers on patrol spotted Christian MacDowell, 48, of Wilkes-Barre, walking near Public Square. Officers recognized MacDowell and were aware of an outstanding warrant for his arrest, according to a police report.

MacDowell was taken into custody without incident and transported to the Wilkes-Barre City Police Department. He was later transferred to the custody of Ashley Police Department officers.

No further details regarding the aggravated assault charges were immediately available.
