Man fatally shot while driving in Queens, pedestrian injured

QUEENS, N.Y. — A 66-year-old man was fatally shot while driving in the vicinity of 117th Road and Farmers Boulevard on Monday afternoon, police said. The incident occurred at approximately 4:50 p.m. within the 113th Precinct.

Officers responding to a 911 call of shots fired found the victim, identified as William Alcindor of Queens, inside a gray 2014 Nissan SUV with a gunshot wound to the head. A preliminary investigation revealed that Alcindor was traveling eastbound on Baisley Boulevard and turning onto northbound Farmers Boulevard when he was shot, causing him to lose control of the vehicle.

Alcindor’s vehicle then struck a 23-year-old female pedestrian, who sustained leg injuries. She was transported to NYC Health + Hospitals/Jamaica by EMS in stable condition.

Alcindor was also transported to NYC Health + Hospitals/Jamaica, where he was pronounced dead. No arrests have been made, and the investigation is ongoing.
