Maryland Woman Pulled Gun During Fit of Road Rage in Forestville

FORESTVILLE, Md. — Maryland State Police have arrested a 37-year-old woman following a road-rage incident in which she allegedly pointed a gun at another driver near Route 5 in Prince George’s County.

The suspect, identified as Brittany Erin Cousar of Upper Marlboro, was taken into custody on Sept. 12, 2024, at her residence. Cousar faces multiple charges, including two counts of first-degree felony assault, along with misdemeanor assault and firearm offenses. She was granted private home detention after initially being held without bond.

The incident occurred on Sept. 11 when Maryland State Police from the Forestville Barrack responded to a report of a driver in a white BMW SUV brandishing a firearm at another motorist, who had a child in the vehicle, near Surratts Road.

Investigators located Cousar’s vehicle later that day and seized two loaded handguns from it. During questioning, Cousar allegedly attempted to destroy evidence by smashing her cell phone. She was arrested and processed at the Forestville Barrack.
