Off-Duty NYPD Sergeant Arrested in Brooklyn

BROOKLYN, N.Y. — An off-duty New York Police Department sergeant was arrested Monday evening in the 69th Precinct, officials said. The arrest occurred at 8:47 p.m., according to authorities.

The officer, identified as 43-year-old Carrku Gbain, faces charges of first-degree criminal contempt. The details surrounding the incident leading to the arrest have not been disclosed.

Gbain, who is currently employed by the NYPD, was taken into custody by officers from the 69th Precinct, which serves the Canarsie neighborhood of Brooklyn.

The NYPD has yet to release further information regarding the circumstances of the case or Gbain’s current employment status with the department.
