SEVERN, Md. — A Maryland Lottery player in Severn has become the state’s latest millionaire after winning a $1 million prize from a $20 scratch-off ticket, according to lottery officials.

The winning ticket, part of the “Millionaire’s Club” game, was sold at Severn Liquor on WB&A Road. This win was among the top prizes awarded during the week ending Sept. 15, a period in which the Maryland Lottery paid out more than $30.4 million in prizes across the state.

Other large prizes last week included a $200,000 scratch-off sold at Kash King in Temple Hills and two $100,000 wins from “Crossword 8th Edition” tickets sold in Laurel and Salisbury.

During the seven-day span, 18 lottery tickets worth $10,000 or more were either sold or redeemed, adding to the significant prize payouts.

Winners of prizes larger than $25,000 must claim their winnings at Maryland Lottery offices by appointment. Smaller prizes up to $5,000 can be redeemed at designated XCAP locations, while all retailers are authorized to handle tickets worth up to $600.
